We are Canada's first dedicated Animation Local, servicing unionized Animation and Video Games workers in BC and Canada. Thank you so much for your interest in membership in our Local. We look forward to your help as we build a more equitable and fair industry for us all to work in!

Joining the Local

Unionized Workplaces:

Most members join our local by forming a union at their studio or by being hired into an existing unionized workplace. If you are entering membership via your employment at a workplace represented by The Canadian Animation Guild, IATSE Local 938, please reach out to your Shop Steward for assistance on how to access your member portal and for next steps.

If your workplace is represented by IATSE Local 938 but does not currently have a Shop Steward, including represented workplaces that have successfully certified but have not yet ratified a collective agreement, please reach out to us directly at contact@cag938.ca. Provide your name and current employer, and we will guide you through the most appropriate application method for you.

Other Applicants:

If you are seeking to become a new member and are not employed by a workplace represented by The Canadian Animation Guild, IATSE Local 938, you may apply for membership based on our local's eligibility criteria. This criteria was written to allow as many workers to apply for membership as possible, while still ensuring that our local membership is made up of workers that can demonstrate a relevant employment relationship to our industry. How to Apply:

1. Download the Membership Application Checklist to review eligibility, required documents, and how to submit your application.
2. Compile all required documents as outlined in the checklist and send them to join@cag938.ca with the subject line “[YOUR NAME] CAG 938 MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION”.
   • Please do not send any payment with your application; approved applicants will be contacted and informed of their membership payment schedule.
